First view of Turkey |
Ceiling in Blue Mosque |
Blue Mosque |
Still more, we were sitting listening to our guide explaining things to us |
Katie got a little snap happy in here |
But it was pretty special, not to be missed actually |
Last one I promise |
Grand Bazaar, operating since 1491, this is the gate we entered |
Early morning, not too many folks around just yet |
Fascinating place, sold lots of stuff and you had to haggle |
A Turkish rug, what a surprise ! |
Gate at the Topkapi Palace complex where the different Sultans had their residences |
In we go |
Outside the Treasury building, was all very ornate and rich |
Katie with long skirt on for Mosque and the like |
Me in usual garb :) |
Nice |
Inside the treasury |
Still same building |
To make it interesting |
Sign at entrance to the Harem, fascinating history given by our guide |
Pics don't do justice to the ornateness (if that's a word) or age of the place |
Nice light fitting, and yes the last Sultan was here when there was electricity! |
We all have fireplaces like this don't we |
And rooms like this in our homes |
On our way into St Sophia's and we had no inkling on what we were about to see. We had just seen the amazing Blue Mosque and Palace |
And despite the pics not showing how much more beautiful and breathtaking this was in comparison to the Blue Mosque, I have put them here anyway. Trust me this was one of the highlights of the whole cruise |
Mind boggling |
Think I might google it to see better photography :) |
Still there, Katie's camera was about to die yet again on this trip. Lucky for iPhones. |
Day finished at The Spice market, which also had lots of food and we bought even more Turkish delight. It wasn't like we hadn't bought a ton at The Bazaar that morning! |
Choices, choices |
Didn't but any saffron though |
